Microsoft Sam is the default text-to-speech voice used by the Narrator software included with Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Microsoft Sam is also known as Sam Whistler. Sam is a robot guy. It is known that Microsoft Sam AKA Sam Whistler wears a dark suit, blue shirt, and green tie. His hair is mostly blue, with a green accent towards the front. Some people may ask, why describe a man when Microsoft Sam is actually just a piece of software developed by Microsoft in the mid-late 90s? Well he’s just a guy. He’s actually a robot. He’s just a man-robot thing. This is serious, this is not a joke. The Whistler surname originates from the Microsoft project, “Whistler” (Windows Highly Intelligent STochastic taLkER) text-to-speech engine. They started calling Microsoft Sam by the name of Sam Whistler because they wanted him to be relatable and have a “human name”. The concept of a corporeal body and name makes Microsoft Sam just like us.
It has been historically proven that Sam Whistler was built in Mexico back in the year 1986. This transcends the idea that Microsoft Sam is software and was written by a team at Microsoft in the 1990s.
